Thank you for choosing our studio. We know that the world forever changed in 2020.

We want you to know our studio takes sanitary and safety needs very seriously.

In our boutique home studio, we are wearing masks throughout the session. We do not work with shoes on, but rather in socks for every session.

We ask that if anyone is sick in your family that they please stay home. If you or your family are not well, please reschedule your session for another time.

We are very careful with our laundry and have multiple wraps, materials, and gowns for each session. After each session all supplies used are washed.

If there are any concerns, please reach out to us before the session so we can discuss them.

Pregnancy Prep

Pregnancy sessions are best during your 7th or 8th month when the tummy is nice and round before swelling begins. For those carrying multiples or are on bed rest, it is advised to have a session a bit earlier, more like late 5th or 6th month. For those women gaining very little weight throughout their pregnancy (under 20 pounds) then we suggest waiting until a little over their 8th month. The idea is to have your session when your tummy is nice and round, but before your entire body swells and you’re uncomfortable.

Pregnancy sessions require you moving in ways you are not used to, and therefore that can be exhausting to the body. We suggest a few things for you to prepare for your session:

  • eat a well-balanced meal with carbs and protein

  • drink lots of water

  • stay off your feet for 1-2 hours before your session (hair/makeup is the perfect opportunity)

Hair/Makeup

We have a fabulous hair and makeup artist that works with us on every shoot. Not only will this make our work easier, but you will also feel beautiful and confident at your session. Our makeup artist is on site and will complete your makeover before your photo session begins.

Nails

Please remove chipped nail polish and get a manicure. If you aren't the manicure type, press on nails are another option.

For those manicure lovers choose soft blush colors, French manicure, or neutral colors for your nails. Try to avoid bright nails, busy patterns, and tips that are dark. This will make you look like you have dirt under your nails. Make sure your toes match your hands. YES, your feet will be seen in some of the photos.

Maternity Wear

We suggest browsing some clothing ideas. You can email your choices to alan@aroseportraits.com. Clients usually choose up to 4 clothing options for their studio session.

We generally keep a few gowns sized up to a large in our maternity wardrobe. If there is any doubt we have your size, you are welcome to bring any clothing of your own as well!

We have a full bathroom changing area for privacy.

Pregnancy Packaging

Our studio offers a limited selection of maternity gowns and silk fabrics to wear, however we would like for you to wear what feel comfortable and pretty in.

Depending upon your style of your session you are choosing, the following are some suggested items to bring:

  • Neutral strapless bra & seamless underwear (thong is ideal or a panty that does not show lines)

  • Black bra & panty set (for those dark and moody shots)

  • White/ivory bra & panty set (for those white background shots)

  • Tube top

  • Regular jeans (not maternity ones)

  • Button up shirt or blouse

  • Long, flow or form fitting dress

  • Button-up sweater or cardigan

  • Significant other’s/partner button up dress shirt

  • Any favorite scarf, accessory, jewelry, etc.

  • High heeled shoes (for long gowns)

Maternity styling for partners

We suggest complimentary styling for your partner. This means they do not need to have the exact same color, but perhaps be in the same tonal range, as well as style.

If you are choosing more fancy and formal gowns for your session, then your partner should be dressed to match the same style (glam vs casual)

Likewise, if you are going to go more casual, then your partner can also be simpler in their clothing (i.e., jeans). Please avoid logos on shirts.

We suggest avoiding shorts for your partner so that we can focus on the posing and less on what they are wearing. Shoes are also optional, but if you are wearing dress shoes, they should also wear shoes.
